I believe that the U.S. Constitution is a brilliant document. It has guided us through good times as well as difficult times, and has enabled America to become the greatest nation in the world. However, I am not a ‘strict constructionist’. I prefer to think that this document should be interpreted by its original intent. The constitution was penned over 200 years ago. It is not conceivable that the founders of this country could have imagined the technical advancements made and the global circumstances that exist today. I hear people presenting the argument that the First Amendment and other articles of the constitution prohibit much of what our intelligence community has determined is necessary to preserve the security of our country. It seems to me that our elected officials in Washington could unite long enough to pass legislation that would enable the various intelligence organizations and our law enforcement agencies, including the military, to temporarily suspend that which the strict constructionist would vehemently resist. Yes, yes, I understand that congress does not have the authority to amend the constitution. But a temporary suspension of a small portion of our founding document, under the present circumstances, would afford all of us a significantly greater level of security. We can later decide whether the constitution should be amended as prescribed by the procedure that is an important part of the very same document discussed here.
In the past two weeks there have been bombings attributed to ISIS in Beirut, Baghdad and other locations around the world, all with significant loss of lives. Also, a Russian airliner has been downed by what is widely proven to be the work of and boasted by ISIS. All 224 passengers and crew members lost their lives in that evil event. Just hours prior to the horrific tragedy in Paris, where 129 innocent people were slaughtered and 350 were injured, also proven to be the work of ISIS, President Obama pronounced that ISIS has been “CONTAINED”. REALLY? Also, one day after the Paris tragedy, it was announced by the White House that five additional detainees in Guantanamo were being released to the United Arab Emirates. No, it is not just a matter of timing; although the comments on containment and the release of five of the often quoted ‘worst of the worst’ terrorists were being released, were incredibly ill-timed. Further, this morning, at a news conference from Turkey, I heard President Obama proudly proclaim that the administration’s policy on ISIS and terrorism, which he claimed is working, will NOT change. What should change is, not only his policies, but our country and the world should permanently abandon the disastrous and unbelievably harmful practice of ‘politically correct’ behavior. Starting with this: It is time we called the administration what it truly is; a terrible combination of incompetence, ignorance and arrogance! BHO appears to be completely unable to disengage himself from his cultural heritage, and to comprehend and recognize the dangers that radical Islamic terrorists present. Yes, Mr. President, it is RADICAL ISLAMIC TERRORISM. Additionally, and more dangerous, is BHO’s UNWILLINGNESS to act in this country’s defense. Makes a person wonder about his allegiance. It seems to me inconceivable that any thinking person in this country would support a four year continuation of the same failed policies, which is precisely what Hillary Clinton, by her own admission, would do. WAKE UP AMERICA.
